Iris Karlin, a native Israeli, is a Cantorial student at Hebrew Union College's Debbie Friedman School of Music. Iris received her Bachelors in Music and the B.A. Honors Program, and a Masters in Education from Haifa University. She conducted choirs and taught music on the college level, and pursued her postgraduate studies in Opera at the Buchman Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv. After singing with the Israeli Opera, she continued her career in the United State, and has been praised for her rare combination of stage presence and musicianship by critics and conductors alike, winning audiences' favorite awards for many of the roles she portrayed. Iris has taught music as well as Hebrew in a number of different synagogues, and served as the soprano soloist at the Riverdale Temple in the Bronx. Iris also has had the wonderful opportunity to direct and conduct kids' shows off-Broadway, and adults operas for local companies in NYC and NJ. In 2019, Iris heard her calling, and started pursuing Cantorial studies. She is very grateful for the wonderful opportunity to join the family of Adas Emuno. |
