    Dear Friends,

Today is Yom HaZicharon, Israel Memorial Day, followed tomorrow by Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel Independence Day.

At our Livestream Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM), we will celebrate Israel with inspiring music and words.

At our Zoom Shabbat Morning Torah Study (10:00 AM) a subject of continuing relevance arises: What constitutes appropriate and inappropriate speech in our private and public discourse?

    Shabbat shalom,
    Rabbi Schwartz

    Hello All!

We were sent an SOS from Family Promise, asking us to cook for the folks living at the shelter in Hackensack, as we've done for many years.  The difference is that these same folks were moved to hotels during the pandemic so we will not need servers this time.. but we will need lots of cooks!

Adas Emuno is signed up for THURSDAY, MAY 27th and we will be cooking for 150 people.  We deliver the food in pans to the shelter where volunteers divide everything into separate containers and deliver the dinners.

We could really use your help! If you cook but can't deliver your tray of food to the shelter, no worries!  We'll call in our own "A.E. Pick Up & Delivery Service" team, curbside, if you'd like!

If you are willing to join our team of cooks, please email  Annette by May 1 so she can coordinate all volunteers.  Details of the EASY MENU will then follow.

    With sincerest thanks,
    Your Social Action Committee

    Dear Friends,
Today is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Commemoration Day.

At our Livestream Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM), Student Cantor Karlin, accompanied by Beth Robin, will bring us moving music related to this day, and to the great legacy of German Jewish composing.

I'll reflect on recent efforts to educate the new generation about the past (which I will put into practice at Confirmation Class on Sunday).

At our Zoom Shabbat Morning Torah Study  (10:00 AM) we will look at a quality that, according to the Torah and Rashi commentary, is necessary in our leaders, but in short supply today: humility.

    Shabbat shalom,
    Rabbi Schwartz

    Dear Friends,
As we conclude our week long observance of Pesach I'll share some final thought on the holiday at our Zoom Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM).

We have some catching-up to do in the Book of Leviticus at our Zoom Shabbat Morning Torah Study (10:00 PM).

Keep in mind that our next two Shabbat services, for Yom HaShoah and Yom Ha'Atzmaut, will feature special music appropriate for Holocaust Commemoration Day and Israel Independence Day.

    Shabbat shalom,
    Rabbi Schwartz

    Dear Friends,

The next meeting of the Adas Emuno Book Club will be take place on Monday, May 10 (7:30 PM).

We will be reading the acclaimed novel, Up from Orchard Street by Eleanor Widmer.

Copies of the book are available through the BCCLS.

This novel centers around an immigrant family living on the Lower East Side in the 1930s. The author, who was born in 1924, grew up there. So many of us have NY roots and all of us can relate to the immigrant experience.

    Happy reading,
Michael Fishbein on behalf of the Book Club

    Dear Friends,
We're sending this message early in the week rather so you can enjoy the special Pesach Video that Cantor Karlin and I prepared for you.
We've recorded some of our favorite readings and songs that you might want to share at your own seder, or simply enjoy for their own sake.
You can find the video on our YouTube channel, and also find it with a PDF copy of the readings and lyrics at this website:https://adasemuno.org/Pesach/

At our Zoom Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM) we'll feature additional lively music and some fun preparation for Pesach.
Both Torah Study and Religious School are on break this weekend.

Whether you are celebrating Pesach again this year virtually (like my family), or will be able to gather in-person, we wish you a healthy and happy holiday.

Shabbat shalom and Hag Pesach Sameach,
    Rabbi Schwartz

    Dear Friends,
Join us for our Livestream Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM), with Peter Hays joining our cantor for some special music, as I offer a few reflections as we conclude our annual reading of the book of Exodus.

At our Livestream Shabbat Morning Service (10:00 AM) we celebrate the bar mitzvah of Leo Avidon. Mazal tov to Leo and his family!

Spring officially begins on this Shabbat and Pesach is just a week away, coming quite "early" this year.
Be on the look-out for a special "mini-seder" video by the Cantor and me for use at your own seder.

    Shabbat shalom,
    Rabbi Schwartz

    Dear Friends,
With Purim in the rear-view mirror, our thanks to everyone who made for such a wonderful, virtual celebration of the holiday this year. We have a lot of talent for a small congregation.

Our Livestream Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM) will feature special musical selection with Peter Hays accompanying the Cantor on guitar. We'll explore what the ancient Torah story of the Golden Calf has to say about the role of group anxiety in society today.

At our Zoom Shabbat Morning Torah Study(10:00 AM) we'll see what Rashi says about this nefarious episode in the Torah.

Mark you calendar for the next Zoom Book Club, Monday, Mar 15 (7:30 PM), and read the provocative short story about intergenerational conflict, Brit Milah by talented new Israeli writer Ayelet Tsabari here:https://adasemuno.org/bookclub/.
