Dear Friends,
Even if you rely on our livestream much of the time, I think you will want to attend our
Shabbat Evening Service
(7:30 PM) this week in person.
We will honor student cantor Iris Karlin for her two years of exceptional service.
Iris will be joined on the bimah by our new student cantor Joe Flaxman, making a special guest appearance for this occasion (before joining us in September).
Elka Oliver (vocals), Beth Robbin (piano), Peter Hayes (guitar) and Scott Dennis (percussion) will all add their musical talents.
A special outdoor oneg will be served.
While Iris and her family will continue to be involved in our congregation, her term of service is formally over, and for being such a bright light during the dark time of the pandemic, we will always be grateful.
Our bi-monthly
Adas Emuno Book Club
meets on Monday (7:30 PM). From Doris White: "
All Other Nights
by Dara Horn is a real page turner. It combines history, mystery and romance. Set during the Civil War, we follow the major character Jacob Rappaport as he spies for the Union and is spied upon by Confederate sympathizers. One of the most interesting characters is based on an actual Jewish man who had an important role assisting Jefferson Davis. We look forward to a lively discussion about loyalty, betrayal and personal integrity."
Shabbat shalom,
Rabbi Schwartz
