    Hanukkah begins tonight!
    Join us:
     1. In-person lighting of our outdoor menorah (7:00PM) every night, rain, shine or snow!

     2.  Zoom Family Shabbat-Hanukkah Service (7:30 PM), led by the 6th grade.

     3. Zoom Hanukkah Party (7:30 PM) this Saturday, with music, quiz, and dreidel show. 

    There's a lot to light up even in this dark time.

    Dear Friends,
      What is in a name?
      Quite a lot according to the Torah.
      We'll discuss the three names of the Jewish people at our Zoom Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM).

       We celebrate the bat mitzvah of Ellis Marcus at our Livestream Shabbat Morning Service (10:00 AM).
       Mazal tov to Ellis and her family!

       Hanukkah is fast approaching- be on the look-out for a special flyer with all our festivities, including our nightly outdoor menorah lighting.
        Visit our annual Mitzvah Mall this Sunday at 9:00 via Zoom to support important charities and print your own donation cards, which make a lovely gift.

    Sunday, December 6, 9 AM - Zoom

    Well, it's Mitzvah Mall time at Adas Emuno!  As with so much else, we are a "virtual reality"  this year.  And yet, Tikkun Olam, healing the world, can use our helping hands more than ever.  So, please read on for Mitzvah Mall details.

    Organizations being represented:

    • Maywood Police Department K-9 Unit  -  a very special unit with a very unique aspect to it.
    • Center for Food Action - This organization always does so much.  Now, during the pandemic, there's even more going on.

    You can print out the "greeting card" from the Adas Emuno Website (click here). At the top, there is a line to fill in the sender's name.  The page also includes a box for each organization.  Check off those which you give donations to, in honor of the recipients.
    Cost per card:  Student price per card- $2  Adult price per card- $2 and up

    Ways to pay:

    • Send a check to the temple [Congregation Adas Emuno, Attn: Annette (Social Action/Mitzvah Mall), 254 Broad Avenue, Leonia, N.J. 07605].  Checks can be made out to each organization or to Adas Emuno.  Please remember to include a BREAKDOWN OF THE AMOUNTS  FOR EACH ORGANIZATION if check is written to the temple.        
    • Go to the temple website, click on DONATE.  Fill  in boxes with name, email, amount and "code".
      Please fill in "Additional Info." box with the SPECIFIC AMOUNTS YOU ARE DONATING TO EACH ORGANIZATION.  Then click PAY and go from there.

    This is a mall for everyone, regardless of age, interests or fear of driving on highways!  We offer special gifts which you can be proud to give, recipients will be proud to receive and which keep on giving.  In the spirit of making the world a little better, this is the mall to be at.  So, with coffee, tea, milk, juice, etc. in hand [because there's no driving involved!], please join us.

    Mitzvah Mall 2020

    Hello All!

    Gift shopping online is quick, sometimes easy and these days, safe.  But it's not necessarily as much fun as meeting a friend at a real, live mall.  Well, Adas Emuno has put the fun back into online shopping!  Please join us on Zoom, on Sunday, December 6th at 9 am as we host our 5th Mitzvah Mall.  Listen to our guests explain how their organizations help the world and watch their videos. Then go shopping from the comfort of your home. Buy [print out]  cards to show that you gave a donations to these organizations in honor of the recipients of your cards. Great gifts! Special gifts! The sort of gifts which keep on giving!

    So, please plan to meet your friends at the Mitzvah Mall! Look for future emails with additional info and your Zoom invite.

      At our Zoom Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM) we will reflect on the thanks we can give in this confounding period in our nation's history.

       The saga of family conflict and reconciliation in Genesis continues at our Zoom Shabbat Morning Torah Study (10:00 AM).

       Our students will offer reflections on the tumultuous family life of Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Esau, which is also the subject of our Zoom Shabbat Morning Torah Study  (10:00 AM).

    Dear Friends, 
       Each year we commemorate the anniversary of Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass) that ushered in the Holocaust. 
       We do so this year with special music and a discussion of an anti-Semitic dilemma in Germany that has resonance with controversies here in the US.
        Of course we will also discuss the results of our election at our Zoom Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM).

       At our Livestream Shabbat Morning Service (10:00 AM) we celebrate the bat mitzvah of Charlotte Guberman.
       Mazal tov to Charlotte and her family! 
       (Please note that Torah study does not take place).

        Please join us for our bi-monthly Adas Emuno Book Club meeting on Monday eve. (7:30 PM).. The short story by the renowned writer Grace Paley is of special interest to interfaith families and all who wrestle with the "December dilemma".

       Next week marks 25 years since the tragic assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.
       I'll reflect on that sad anniversary and the state of democracy in both Israel and America on the eve our presidential election at our Zoom Shabbat Evening Service (7:30 PM).
